| Description: | The Allen community has high expectations for its schools and the Allen Independent School District is proud to meet and exceed those expectations. Seven of the school district's eighteen schools earned Exemplary ratings from the Texas Education Agency in 2005. In addition, Allen High School was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2005 and was named as a 2004 Texas Pathfinder School.
Located approximately 25 miles northeast of Dallas, Allen ISD serves 16,500 students at 12 elementary schools, three middle schools, one freshman center, and one high school. The school district offers a varied and challenging curriculum to meet the needs of our students. The International Baccalaureate (IB) program and 22 advanced placement courses provide the academic rigor needed by Allen High School's college bound students. Experienced teachers and a strong curriculum helped Allen students achieve a 97% in reading, 91% in math, 97% in social studies and 98% in writing on the 2005 TAAS exam. A reputation for modern facilities, academic achievement and a supportive community have also helped Allen ISD become one of the fastest growing districts in the Metroplex. |
